Prerequisite not satisfied when trying to install Skype for Business Server 2015 – KB2982006

You’re probably reading this post because you recognise this error:

Prerequisite not satisfied: Before you install Skype for Business Server 2015, you must Install an update for Windows Server 2012 R2. For details about the update, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 2982006, “IIS crashes occasionally when a request is sent to a default document in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2” at












Well, fear not! a quick fix is here!

First off you will need to download KB2982006 from here


Click Hotfix Download Available


Click the BOX next to x64 version of the Fix514814. (Don’t worry this is KB2982006)

Input your email address you wish to receive the download link.

Then click Request Hotfix.

Once you receive the download link from the email save it to so your target server can access.

Using WinZIP or WinRAR extract the content of to a folder, inside will be the update we need Windows8.1-KB2982006-x64.msu. for example into a folder on C called KB.


Now if you was to attempt to run the update as admin you will get the following error:

In order for us to apply the KB2982006 HotFix we have to complete the prerequisite described in the respective Hotfix detail information:

“To apply this hotfix, you must first install update 2919355 on Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 2919355 Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 Update April, 2014 –



If you’re still having issues installing the KB2982006 then try the following workaround:


The work around utalises the DISM tool to manually add the update.

Before using DISM we need to make sure that KB2919442 and KB2919355 are already installed:

in powershell on the server run:

Get-Hotfix KB2919442,KB2919355


We need to expand the .msu with:

Expand -F:* C:\KB\Windows8.1-KB2982006-x64.msu C:\KB\KB2982006

Now we have the cab file, we can manually add the KB2982006 using DISM command:

dism /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\KB\KB2982006\

To confirm we have installed run:

Get-Hotfix KB2919442,KB2919355,KB2982006
