OK Google Everywhere

According to the reports, OK Google Everywhere feature will allow Android users to utter that ubiquitous phrase in order to bring up a menu for voice-based actions while browsing through photos, email or other applications. Well the reports are true, and here you go.

When the Nexus 5 debuted, one of its coolest features was the fact that you could say “OK Google” any time you were on the home screen to launch a Google Voice Search. This feature was ultimately made available for other devices by way of the Google Now Launcher.

OK Google Everywhere feature will allow Android users to utter that ubiquitous phrase “OK Google” in order to bring up a menu for voice-based actions while browsing through photos, email or other applications. This OK Google update is slowly rolling out on a per-account basis starting in the USA, Well thats not quick enough for me and i’m sure others, so here’s how to enable it now.

 

English (US)

For this you will have to have to have your Language set to English (US)

  • To change your language open Google Now, navigate to the bottom of the search until you see the settings icon (Three small squares stacked)
  • Click Voice and scroll down to English then choose English (US)

Google Now Everywhere

  • Open Google Now and type/say “OK Google everywhere” in the search box.
  • Navigate to the bottom of the search until you see the settings icon (Three small squares stacked)
  • Tap the menu button > Voice > “Ok Google” Detection.
  • Make sure From Google Search app is ticked. Then tick the box next to From any screen and if you want the function tick From lock screen.

This will auto launch the initial setup process to train Google Search to recognize your voice. Accept the terms and conditions, then on the next screen.

  • Now say “OK Google three times. (At arm’s length for best results)

Once your have trained your phone go give it a try, and have fun.
